It’s Halloween and the time of year when thousands of people will see a set of zombie eye contact lenses at their local convenience store and think “Man, those will go great with my costume this year!”.

It’s also the time of year when those same people will check in to their eye doctors a week later with a raging corneal infection from those very same zombie eye contacts.

Contact lenses are a highly regulated medical device that can cause infections and eye damage when used improperly. Those things sold at Halloween may not even be in sterile saline at the point of sale. You have no idea what those contacts may be soaking in before you put it in your eye. Do yourself a favor this year and skip those contacts and only buy lenses from your eye care professional.
