Artificial Cornea Made from Pig Collagen Restores Vision in Swedish Study
This article about a new type of artificial corneas from Sweden is a sign of things to come. The corneas were transplanted to 20 individuals who, after 2 years, had no rejection of the corneas and still had vision. All patients in the study had keratoconus and met the definition of “Legally Blind”. Three of the recipients actually had 20/20 vision after two years- an excellent result.
